History of the Institute and Alumni

The Latin/Greek Institute was founded in 1973 as a collaborative effort between Brooklyn College and City University Graduate Center.

Initially offering Latin instruction only, the Basic Greek program was launched in 1978. Advanced programs, later known as the Upper-Level programs, were added in the years that followed.

Alumni

More than 2,000 students have trained in Latin and/or Greek at the institute. Many students develop lifelong friendships with each other over the summer; they also remain in contact with the institute for decades.

All alumni are encouraged to keep in touch with the institute. To send an update about recent pursuits or notification about address changes, e-mail Rita Fleischer.
