Over the years, the Magner Career Center at Brooklyn College has established partnerships with countless internal and external programs. It has provided its diverse and curious body of students with increased career support and industry knowledge.

Futures in Finance

Futures in Finance

CUNY Futures in Finance is a two-year program tailored towards students interested in pursuing careers in business. It connects participants with recruiters and mentors who will help them develop the skills necessary to achieve careers in the financial sector. Throughout the initiative, students participate in a wide range of programming, including networking opportunities with industry professionals, student problem-solving competitions, resume coaching and master classes on the hiring process at financial firms.

Tech Talent Pipeline Program

The TTP Residency is a partnership between NYC Small Business Services and Brooklyn College that helps connect computer science majors with NYC businesses to gain hands-on experience in the field. Students complete paid internships at NYC businesses in web, mobile developer, and software engineering roles at established companies such as Zillow, Washington Post, and Consumer Reports.

CUNY LEADS is a program that was established to facilitate positive career outcomes for students with disabilities. The services that are provided center around job readiness, career development, and opportunity procurement. CUNY LEADS offers services such as résumé and interview preparation, career advising, as well as job-seeking and referral assistance.

Students at Brooklyn College are offered access to a wide variety of external career programs such as America Needs You, Basta Fellowship, COOP, HACU, Streetwise, NYC Teaching Fellows, NY Urban League, Teach for America, etc. The Center’s partnerships with these external programs ultimately place high emphasis on mentoring, access to employers or career development workshops and cater to students of all backgrounds and aspirations.

Our international students are also offered resources to find future employment and complete required processes. A counselor can assist students with engaging in work-related activities to enhance your learning experience ranging from internships, training as part of a degree program (CPT or AT), on-campus employment, and optional practical training (OPT) after completing your degree.

Personal counseling is available to Brooklyn College undergraduate and graduate students. A staff of psychologists, counselors, and social workers are here to help students with personal issues or academic-related problems. The Personal Counseling Center also hosts workshops on managing stress and effective time management to ease anxiety related to a potential job search or upcoming interview.
