Alexandra Lewis is the Deputy Director of Graduate Studies for the Conservatory of Music. She teaches a wide array of courses including music history, theory, ear training, keyboard, and performance. She designed the keyboard and ear-training programs and serves as coordinator of both. Her areas of interest--19th- and early-20th-century music--have served as inspiration for recent music history special topics seminars on Liszt, Ravel, and The Art of the Piano. In Spring 2018, she organized an all-Ravel concert as a culmination of her popular Music of Maurice Ravel seminar that featured performances by both students and faculty. She continues to pursue her passion for the piano through performances and is an advocate of contemporary music. Lewis is a strong proponent of "Reacting to the Past" pedagogy and began creating her own games in 2009. She uses these games on a regular basis when teaching her music history course for undergraduates.
