What does SAP stand for?
Dates and Deadlines
Fall 2017
- July 11 2017—First day to submit a Federal Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal form for the fall 2017 semester.
- August 17 2017—Last day to submit a Federal Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal form for the fall 2017 semester.
Spring 2018
- January 12, 2018—First day to submit a Federal Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal form for the spring 2018 semester.
- February 9, 2018 —Last day to submit a Federal Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal form for the spring 2018 semester.
In order to receive financial aid as a student, you must make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). If you do not meet the minimum requirements, you will lose your eligibility.
Students are reviewed annually at the end of each academic year. After review, Brooklyn College will notify any student who failed to meet SAP via
SAP Standards
All students will be measured against each of the three SAP standards at the end of the spring term to determine eligibility for receipt of Title IV student financial assistance in the upcoming year.
Qualitative Standards
1. Cumulative Grade Point Average
- 2.00 GPA for undergraduate programs unless otherwise specified in SAP policy
- 3.00 GPA for graduate programs
Quantitative Standards
2. Pace of Progression
Pace of progress is calculated by dividing the cumulative hours that you have successfully completed by the cumulative credits you have attempted.
Undergraduate Standards
For baccalaureate programs, accumulated (or earned) credits must be equal to or greater than a certain percentage of the total credits attempted. Examples of Progression:

Graduate Standards
At least 67 percent of all credits attempted must have passing grades
3. Maximum Time Frame
Undergraduate and graduate students must complete a degree or certificate program in no more than 150 percent of the average published length of the program.
Your Right to Appeal
If you fail to meet any of the standards above, you can submit a SAP appeal to request a reinstatement of financial aid.
