Martin D. Sass
Martin D. Sass is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of M.D. Sass, a leading independent registered investment management firm. M.D. Sass & Affiliates manage approximately $7 billion in hedge funds, private equity funds and separate accounts in various equity, fixed income and alternative investment strategies. Mr. Sass leads the M.D. Sass Seeding and Incubation Team which partnered in the startup of 35 investment management businesses and strategies, which M.D. Sass grew from zero to approximately $40 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Sass began his investment career after graduating from Brooklyn College in 1963. Before launching M.D. Sass in 1972, he was President, Chief Investment Officer and a principal shareholder of Neuwirth Management and Research Corp., where he managed their mutual funds and hedge funds. Earlier he was a Security Analyst and subsequently the Founder and Director of the Special Situations Division of Argus Research Corporation.
Mr. Sass received a B.S. (major in Accounting) from Brooklyn College and studied Finance and Investments in graduate M.B.A. programs at NYU and CUNY. He is Vice Chairman of the Board of the Brooklyn College Foundation, Chairman of the Investment Committee of its Endowment Fund and Founder of the M.D. Sass Investment Institute at Brooklyn College (launched in 2015).
He is a Director of Taurus Funds Management Pty Limited and New Holland Capital Pty Limited, and is also member of the Chief Executive’s Organization, the World President’s Organization. He is also Chairman and Founder of The Sass Foundation for Medical Research. a 501c3 non-profit focused on medical research, education and patient care in the fight against cancer.
