About
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) ensures that the Brooklyn College campus remains a safe environment for its faculty, staff, and students, and addresses all workplace health and safety issues.
EHS Operations During the COVID-19 Pandemic
EHS staff are actively involved with efforts to support the Brooklyn College community during the COVID-19 pandemic. We stand by ready to respond to any campus emergency involving hazardous materials, including: biologicals, chemicals, or radiological hazards.
Although EHS staff are considered essential personnel, on-site staffing may vary due to campus need. Please contact us via phone or e-mail to confirm availability.
PPE / Face Covering Distribution
EHS is maintaining a centralized stock of PPE and face coverings for those returning to campus.

Information on Re-Entry for Returning Researchers
The requirements below have been approved by CUNY Central as part of our campus re-entry plan (PDF).
Laboratory Safety Training (Annual Requirement)
- A BlackBoard organization has been created to provide online laboratory safety training for researchers returning to campus.
- For access, go to CUNY Blackboard and log in with your CUNYfirst credentials.
- Go to the left-hand side to the "Organization Search," and type "Environmental Health and Safety" in the search bar.
- Select the "EHS" organization ID, with "Brooklyn College Environmental Health and Safety" organization name.
- Enroll using enrollment password "1234".
Radiation Safety Training (Annual Requirement for Radiation Users)
- For access, go to CUNY Blackboard and log in with your CUNYfirst credentials.
- If you've already enrolled in the Brooklyn College Environmental Health and Safety organization, simply navigate to that organization and select "Radiation Safety Training."
- Otherwise, utilize the above steps for access to laboratory safety training to enroll.
BioRAFT / ChemTracker Lab Hazards Confirmation (As Needed Requirement)
- Principal investigators must confirm laboratory hazards within BioRAFT.
- For access, go to BioRAFT and log in with your CUNYfirst credentials.
CUNY / Brooklyn College COVID-19 Training / Attestation (One-Time Requirement)
- A form has been created to codify specific Brooklyn College campus requirements around COVID-19 and provide CUNY mandated training.
- Complete the CUNY / Brooklyn College Microsoft Form specific to Brooklyn College policies and procedures.
Daily Everbridge Wellness / COVID-19 Screening (Daily Requirement)
- All personnel coming to campus must complete the COVID-19 screening questionnaire on a daily basis, or on the days they wish to come on campus.
Information for Hazardous Waste Generators
EHS will not be conducting normal hazardous waste pick-up operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you generate hazardous waste and need a pick-up, submit a request via our waste pick-up request form.
