MJ Robinson is an associate professor of convergent journalism and emerging media in the Department of TV, Radio & Emerging Media and was the Bernard N. Stern Professor of Humor (from 2017-2019.) She is also Program Director of the B.S. in Journalism and Media Studies. Robinson teaches undergraduate courses in multi-platform journalism, media aesthetics and Capstone in Journalism and Media Studies, and graduate courses in media studies. She is currently developing courses in AR/VR journalism (Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality), mobile phone storytelling and technology reporting. Robinson's research focuses on the challenges 'curatorial culture' poses for the contemporary news, television and film industry/ies, the political economy of media and the practice and efficacy of political satire in times of crisis and discord particularly that of parody news. She has worked in international co-production and financing for both film and television and as a motion picture archivist.
