  • Summer 2022

Summer 2022

Courses dropped on or after the first day of the semester/session can incur a tuition liability charge. This charge will be a certain percentage of the course tuition, depending on the drop date.

Summer Session 2022 Tuition Liability Schedule

Summer session one (May 31–July 11) and combined session (May 31–August 17) courses must be dropped by May 30, 2022, to avoid any tuition liability charges.

  • Courses dropped between May 31–June 7, 2022, can incur liability charges of from 50%* to 75%.
  • Courses withdrawn from June 8, 2022, and thereafter, will incur 100% tuition liability.

Summer session two (July 14–August 17) courses must be dropped by July 13, 2022, to avoid any tuition liability charges

  • Courses dropped between July 14–21, 2022, can incur tuition liability charges of from 50%* to 75%.
  • Courses withdrawn from July 22, 2022, or thereafter, will incur 100% tuition liability.

Note: Students will incur tuition liability charges for courses swapped from summer session one to summer session two on or after the first day of summer session one (May 31, 2022).

*There is no 25% liability period for the summer sessions. Tuition liability charges for courses dropped on or after the first day of the summer session, start at 50%.

Keep in mind:

  • Liability charges will include student fees and materials fees for courses dropped on or after the first day of the semester/session.
  • Courses must be officially dropped prior to the first day of the semester/session in order to avoid any liability charges listed above. If courses are added after the semester begins, the liability schedule still applies.
  • Failure to submit payment or attend classes is not considered an official drop. It is the student's responsibility to manage his or her enrollment.

Swapping Courses

If you intend to drop one course and add another in its place:

  • Use the SWAP option on your CUNYfirst account for this transaction.
  • You can be charged a certain percentage tuition for the difference in credits if the added course is fewer credits than the dropped course.
  • Be aware that there is a change of program fee associated with any changes you make to your schedule after the semester begins.

Unsuccessful Grades

Failure to attend courses or drop courses in a timely manner can result in the following grades, which all carry 100% tuition liability:

  • W—Assigned to students who withdraw from their courses after the drop period. W grades do not factor into the GPA but appear on a student's transcript.
  • WN—Assigned to student who never participated in an academically related activity and did not officially withdraw. This grade will not appear on your transcript.
  • WU—Assigned to students who stop attending courses but do not officially withdraw from courses. A WU grade is calculated as an F grade into your GPA.
  • INC/FINC—INC grades are assigned at the professor's discretion to students who do not complete the full course work for a class. An INC could become an FINC and be calculated as an F grade into your GPA.
