I was born and raised in Southern California, and received my bachelor's degree in English from UC Berkeley. Before returning to graduate school to study philosophy, I worked as a database programmer and technical manager.

Areas of Expertise:
I specialize in logic and philosophy of mathematics. I have published on nonstandard analysis and on the philosophy of set theory. My current research concerns the philosophy of mathematics of the American philosopher C.S. Peirce.
