Gerald Oppenheimer is Broeklundian Distinguished Professor; professor in the Department of History, CUNY Graduate Center; and professor in the Doctorate in Public Health Program, CUNY Graduate Center. Oppenheimer is a historian, health policy analyst and epidemiologist. His research has included analysis of health services in New York City, the costs of funding health services for those with HIV/AIDS and ethical issues raised by the HIV/AIDS epidemic for the private health insurance system in the United States. He has written on the history of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States and South Africa, and the history of coronary heart disease epidemiology in the United States.
