David C. Bloomfield is professor of educational leadership, law and policy with a joint appointment in the Ph.D. in Urban Education program, CUNY Graduate Center. www.davidcbloomfield.com; He is the author of American Public Education Law, 2nd ed. (Peter Lang, 2011), chapters and articles in his fields of expertise. He is a former elementary and secondary school teacher; general counsel, NYC Board of Education; general counsel and senior education adviser to the Manhattan borough president; Exec. Dir. for public education programs, NYC Partnership; Law Clerk, US Dist Ct., SDNY; Associate, Hogan & Hartson; Asst. Corp. Counsel, NYC Law Department; President, Citywide Council on High Schools; Vice Chair, Literacy Assistance Center. Frequent local and national media commentary. Honors: African-American Inst.
