Susan Longtin is a faculty member of the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences. Longtin is a licensed certified speech language pathologist with more than 40 years of experience in clinical and educational settings. She teaches courses in language development, language disorders in children and autism spectrum disorders. She developed, implemented and evaluated a communication enhancement program for parents of preschool children with autism. Her research interests include early communication development, autism spectrum disorders, parent education, and narrative medicine. She is Hanen certified to conduct parent education programs for children with language impairments including autism spectrum disorders.
