Kiel's visual art work has been recognized worldwide, including at the Prix Ars Electronica (Austria) and the International Media Art Biennale (Poland). He has exhibited in Austria, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Paraguay, Poland, Ukraine and throughout the United States. In collaboration with choreographer Anita Cheng, Kiel has been an artist-in-residence at Dance Theater Workshop's Media Lab, the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Study and Conference Center in Italy and the Ammerman Center for Art & Technology at Connecticut College. They have received commissions from Mulberry Street Theater's Ear to the Ground Series, the Brooklyn Public Library and the Symposium on Art & Technology at Connecticut College. Recently, Kiel has been working with still life images set in motion by 3D simulations.
