Sharon Zukin is professor of sociology at Brooklyn College and at the CUNY Graduate Center, and the author of books on urban, cultural and economic change. She is writing a book about New York's tech economy from hackathons to Amazon. She was Broeklundian Professor from 1996 to 2008, and held the Carol Zicklin endowed chair in the Honors Academy at Brooklyn College in 2015-16. Zukin received the Lynd Award for Career Achievement in urban sociology, from the American Sociological Association, and the C. Wright Mills Book Award for Landscapes of Power. She has been a visiting professor at Tongji University in Shanghai, the University of Amsterdam, the University of Western Sydney, and the Ecole Normale Superieure-Jourdan, and has recently been a distinguished fellow in the Advanced Research Collaborative at the CUNY Graduate Center.
