Jacqueline D. Shannon is associate professor of early childhood education. She received her master's degree in early childhood special education at Northern Illinois University. She is a member of the National Early Head Start Research Consortium. Prior to joining Brooklyn College she was a research scientist at NYU and postdoctoral research fellow with NICHD. She also directed a home-based child development program in East Harlem serving families with children birth to three years. Her research interests include parenting (with a special focus on fathers) and young children's cognitive and social-emotional development within families living in poverty using mixed methods. Recent publications have appeared in Child Development (2004, 2007), Infancy (2005), Parenting: Science and Practice (2002, 2006, 2009), Applied Developmental Science (2007) and Journal of Family Psychology (2008).
