Vanessa Perez Rosario is currently at work on a biography of Puerto Rican poet Julia de Burgos that situates the poet as a transitional figure who bridges the historical divide between the Puerto Rican nationalist writers of the 1930s and the "Nuyorican" writers of the 1970s.
