Giovambattista uses computer simulations and theory to understand how macroscopic properties of a system composed by atoms, molecules and/or nanoscale particles depend on the microscopic interactions of the system's constituents as well as working conditions (e.g., temperature and pressure). Among the systems of interest are complex liquids and solutions; glasses; liquids at interfaces and in nanoscale confinement; nanoparticles and colloidal suspensions; biomolecules in solution.
