SEED 7323X Physical and Life Science, Theory and Content II, Middle Childhood and Adolescence
45 hours seminar plus conference; 3 credits
Advanced course in teaching physical and life science. Analysis of instructional settings and strategies with a focus on science content, teaching and learning theories, techniques of self-analysis, analysis of classroom interactions, and modes of communication in the classroom. Natural and physical sciences from a pedagogical perspective, the New York State and National Standards for science, use of technology to assist students, the development of science curricula with appropriate student-based and differentiated class instruction and assessment. Historical, social, and legal foundations of education, and rights and responsibilities of teachers, students and others with regard to education. Field experience required; may vary (20-40 hours). Not open to students who have taken EDUC 7323X.
