Yung-Yi Diana Pan joined the Department of Sociology in 2012. Her research interests intersect race/ethnicity, immigrant adaptation, culture, and professions. She is currently working on two separate, yet intertwined projects, examining inequality, writ large. One projects looks at race and racism within the professions, and another interrogates the culture and processes of recovery for drug addicts.
Her first book, Incidental Racialization: Performative Assimilation in Law School (Temple University Press, 2017) examines the socialization of Asian American and Latino law students as racialized immigrants entering an elite profession.
Diana approaches teaching as an interactive endeavor between the students and the instructor. Feel free to visit her personal website for more information: www.yungyidianapan.com
