Areas of Expertise:
Dr. España's primary interest is in youth literature that features dynamic language practices, specifically translanguaging, and how educators take up translanguaging pedagogy with youth literature to disrupt language hierarchies and contribute to children's metalinguistic awareness. She is also interested in examining bilingual identities and culturally and linguistically sustaining practices of Latinx teachers and Latinx college students' perceptions of their language practices.
