Emergency Guide
Brooklyn College is fully prepared to act quickly in a wide variety of emergency situations to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors.
In case of an emergency, an alert will be placed on the home page of the Brooklyn College website. More detailed information will be provided on the Emergency Preparedness page and on the Brooklyn College portal. In addition, you will receive notification via these electronic media:
- your e-mail,
- the college's official Facebook and Twitter accounts,
- text alerts* and
- CUNY A!ert.**
* Text alerts are currently available to Brooklyn College students only. To register to receive text alerts, visit the Brooklyn College portal and select "My Email and Text Message Subscriptions" under the "My Info" tab.
** CUNY A!ert is available to all members of the college community who have registered with the system. To sign up, visit CUNY A!ert.
In addition to the above emergency notification systems, the college is in the process of installing an on-campus public address notification system that will offer real-time voice announcement capabilities with clear information and instructions in case of emergency, even in areas of the campus where cell phone and network service may not be available. Ingersoll Hall, Ingersoll Hall Extension, James Hall and Whitehead Hall are already online; the remaining campus buildings, as well as exterior campus locations, are currently being integrated into the PA system.
Emergency Resources
The college provides the following resources to the entire college community:
