Manlow wrote Designing Clothes: Culture and Organization of the Fashion Industry in 2007 (paperback, 2009). She co-edited a book published in February 2014 entitled Global Fashion Brands: Style, Luxury, History. She is an associate editor for the journal Fashion, Style and Popular Culture. Courses include Research Methods, Principles of Marketing Management, Multicultural Marketing, Fashion Marketing, Organizational Behavior and Leadership. Areas explored include organizational, culture, leadership and the creative process of fashion design and branding with a particular focus on the luxury industry. Fashion is of interest to Manlow from a social and cultural perspective as it relates to both applied and theoretical questions concerning the individual, industry, modernity and the global economy. Manlow has written on and studied the area of self-presentation and identity and communication from a social psychological and semiotic standpoint.
