Areas of Expertise:
Jeffrey Taylor specializes in music of the United States and jazz history. His interests include many aspects of current trends in jazz and popular music scholarship and performance, particularly those related to race, gender, class, sexuality and spirituality. Specific interests included jazz and culture in Chicago, the player piano industry in New York, and the history of jazz piano. He also researches the history of jazz in Brooklyn, especially the black radical music tradition of the 1960s.
