Kelly M. Britt, PhD, RPA focuses on community-based historical and contemporary archaeology of urban spaces. Her research concentrates on how identity and sense of place are seen materially. She is currently interested in exploring the intersection of activism and materiality and is currently working on several projects including one looking at the intersection of historic preservation and gentrification with United Order of Tents, Eastern District #3 the oldest Black women's benevolent society in the United States, whose headquarters in located in a 19th century mansion in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn; an international collaborative COVID-19 Quotidian artwork mapping project looking at trauma healing through materiality and collaborating with NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission and the NYC Archaeological Repository with several NYC archaeological collections from Van Cortlandt Manor House in the Bronx and the Rufus King Manor in Jamaica, Queens.

She is working on several projects including one exploring the intersection of gentrification, activism, and material culture in her backyard community of Brooklyn.
