HIST 1101: The Shaping of the Modern World

A history of the world since 1500: the emergence of a global society. Early modern societies, cultures, and state structures. Trade, colonialism, slavery, and revolutions. Comparative industrialization and urbanization. Nationalism, internationalism, and totalitarianism. Demography, environment, Developments in the history of ideas, culture, race, sexuality, and gender. Satisfies Pathways Flexible Core World Cultures and Global Issues requirement.
