(María Zambrano Fellow at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela 2022-2024) Professor Alonso specializes in late 19th-century intellectual history, historiography, and literary Modernism. His most recent publication is a critical edition of Emilia Pardo Bazán's La sirena negra, that he prepared with Susana Bardavío. His current research deals with regionalism, nationalism and literature in Iberian literatures. He is also working on a history of Spanish Literary Theory at the end of Nineteenth Century.
