David C. Bloomfield is professor of educational leadership, law and policy with a joint appointment in the Ph.D. in Urban Education program, CUNY Graduate Center. He is the author of American Public Education Law, 3rd ed. (Peter Lang, 2016), chapters and articles in his fields of expertise. He is a former elementary and secondary school teacher; general counsel, NYC Board of Education; general counsel and senior education adviser to the Manhattan borough president; Exec. Dir. for public education programs, NYC Partnership; Law Clerk, US Dist Ct., SDNY; Associate, Hogan & Hartson; Asst. Corp. Counsel, NYC Law Department; President, Citywide Council on High Schools; Vice Chair, Literacy Assistance Center. Frequent local and national media commentary. Honors: African-American Inst. Fellow; Paul Robeson Prize; NYS Distinguished Educator; Marquis' Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
