Get Fruved project The USDA funded Get Fruved project, named for "FRUits" and "VEgetables," investigates health-related aspects of campus and student life with an ultimate goal of helping freshmen students achieve a healthy and successful first year of college. The three pillars of the project are healthy eating, physical activity, and stress management. The program hosts health promotion events, serves to assist campus wellness organizations collaborate and communicate, advocates for systems/policy changes on campus and utilizes social marketing to promote healthy behavior. During the 2017-2018 academic year, Brooklyn College in its role as control site, gathered data from students on their health practices, the health of our campus, its dining facilities, vending machines, recreation facilities and off campus eateries. Surveys and audits have been completed and sent to USDA for analysis. 2017
Nutrition Clinic, established in 2012 to improve the nutrition status of students by providing nutritional counseling to encourage healthful food choices to reduce risk for chronic diseases. The clinic also provides a platform for training our dietetic interns. Yearly evaluation of anthropometric data including weight, BMI, BF and W/H ratio, BP and dietary intake and lifestyle assessment in relation to disease risk. Counseling extends to Brooklyn College Food Pantry. In Spring 2018, initiated Farm to Campus CSA. 2012
