Dr. May Cheung received her Ph.D. from Drexel University in Nutrition Sciences studying the influence of diet on cardiometabolic health. Upon receiving her degree in Nutrition Sciences, she joined the Monell Chemical Senses Center as an NIH T32 Research Fellow to study Sensory Nutrition, which is the study of how taste and smell interact with diet and nutritional health. In particular, she is interested in understanding personal preferences - why do we like the foods we like? Currently, she is working on understanding the interplay between genetics, environmental, and cultural factors that can influence individualized sweet taste preferences.
