Barbara Studamire is an assistant professor of biology and teaches courses at the undergraduate level in microbiology and general biology, and has taught courses at the graduate level in cell biology, molecular biology, journal club, and virology.
Education:
Ph.D., Cornell University - 2001 (Genetics)
B.A., Hunter College (CUNY) - 1993 (Biological Sciences)
Areas of Expertise:
Dr. Studamire analyzes interactions between retrovirus and host using the tools of genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry. Her lab focuses primarily on the interactions between the retrovirus integrase protein and host chromatin-binding proteins. Dr. Studamire's interaction screens identified a family of proteins that are the first proteins shown to play a role in Moloney murine leukemia virus integration targeting.
