Dr. Laura Reigada is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Brooklyn College, appointed faculty in the Health Psychology and Clinical Science training area, and an adjunct assistant professor of pediatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed a two-year NIMH postdoctoral clinical research fellowship at the Institute for Anxiety and Mood Disorders, at the NYU Child Study Center, within the NYU School of Medicine. Reigada continued her education by becoming a NIH Child, Intervention, Prevention and Services fellow. Currently she has grant funding to develop and test an integrative cognitive-behavioral intervention that jointly addresses anxiety and physical complaints within the context of pediatric chronic illness. Based on her research, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America named her the first Goldman Scholar in Pediatric Research.
Education:
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, New York University Child Study Center - 2008 (Child Anxiety Intervention Research)
Ph.D., Hofstra University - 2006 (Psychology, Clinical)
Areas of Expertise:
Reigada's research interests focus on early identification and treatment of anxiety and depression in children and adolescents; treatment of chronically ill youth with disease-specific anxiety; dissemination of evidence-based treatments; and cognitive processes in treatment change. Reigada is actively working on several projects examining the interplay between emotional and health factors.
