Properties and reactions of compounds of biological importance. Oxygen-transport proteins. Enzyme kinetics and mechanisms. Basic immunology. Biological membranes. DNA replication, mutation, and repair. Transcription and the Genetic Code. Protein biosynthesis. (Not open to students who are enrolled in or have completed Chemistry 4570.)
Prerequisite: Biology 2074 or Biology 1002; Chem 3510 or both Chem 3511 and 3512
